Claire: It’s suspended there to remind us before we pop the champagne and celebrate the New Year, to stop and reflect on the year that has gone by. To remember both our triumphs and our missteps - our promises made, and broken. The times we opened ourselves up to great adventures - or closed ourselves down, for fear of getting hurt. Because that’s what New Year’s is all about: getting another chance. A chance to forgive, to do better, to do more, to give more, to love more. And stop worrying about ‘what if’ and start embracing what would be. So when that ball drops at midnight - and it will drop - let’s remember to be nice to each other, kind to each other. And not just tonight but all year long.

- New Year’s Eve (2012)
Hello Singapore! We arrived today to 30 degrees and sunshine (: we’re currently sitting at Level33 at the financial tower at Marina bay getting some drinks and looking out to an amazing view! I’m already super excited for the cruise which starts tomorrow! Hope you all had a wonderful start into your Friday and weekend is just around the corner!

Literally translated from German ‘Herzklopfen’ means a heart beat. However, in German it can be used to describe the normal beating of the heart or if you say you have ‘Herzklopfen’ it means you are experiencing fear, nervousness or even love.

I awoke in the morning to a dark sky and a killing tiredness at 6.20am. Today was my very first lecture at the university and though it is only a pre-course for Maths it was the first time going back to work! Everything was the first:

  • first time alone using the subway in Munich
  • first time taking the subway to the university
  • first time being in the uni
  • first lecture
  • first time writing and working after 5 months!

Thankfully I found my way quite quickly from the station to the Audimax (main lecture hall of TUM) as most of the people walking to that one exit were headed to that lecture. The lecture hall was huge when I walked in and though I have mentally prepared myself for this moment, I still have ‘Herzklopfen’.
